Comfort planned around you

Sedation begins with a conversation.

Before treatment, the team will review your health history, medications, concerns, and the procedure being planned. That information helps determine whether sedation is appropriate and what preparation or recovery instructions you may need.

The goal is not simply to get through an appointment. It is to help you feel informed, supported, and as comfortable as possible from the first conversation through the end of your visit.

IV sedation

Administered and monitored by a board-eligible anesthesiologist.

For patients who want deeper comfort, KC Endodontics offers IV sedation administered and monitored by a board-eligible anesthesiologist. The anesthesia professional focuses on your comfort and monitoring while Dr. Moore focuses on treatment. The care team and monitoring plan are explained before your procedure, and preparation, transportation and recovery instructions are reviewed with you in advance.

A lighter comfort option

Nitrous oxide for children and adults.

Nitrous oxide, often called laughing gas, is available when appropriate and is provided by Dr. Moore during your visit. It is breathed through a small mask and is intended to help you feel calmer while remaining awake and able to communicate with the team.

Nitrous oxide does not require an insurance eligibility check or authorization and is paid for out of pocket at the time of your visit. Every patient is different, and Dr. Moore will discuss whether nitrous oxide fits your appointment.

Who sedation may help

Comfort support for more than dental anxiety.

A sedation conversation may be useful when fear, sensitivity, or the length of treatment makes it harder to receive the care you need.

  • You have a sensitive gag reflex
  • You have difficulty becoming numb with local anesthetic alone
  • You find it hard to sit still through a longer appointment
  • You need several procedures and want to discuss a more comfortable plan

Frequently asked questions

What to know before your visit.

Is sedation dentistry safe?

Every sedation recommendation begins with a review of your health history, medications, treatment needs and concerns. IV sedation at KC Endodontics is administered and monitored by a board-eligible anesthesiologist, and the team will explain the monitoring and instructions that apply to your plan.

What sedation options does KC Endodontics offer?

Two options are available. Nitrous oxide is provided by Dr. Moore for a lighter level of comfort. IV sedation is administered and monitored by a board-eligible anesthesiologist for deeper comfort. Dr. Moore will help you decide which fits your treatment and health history.

Will I be asleep during my procedure?

Not with nitrous oxide. It helps you relax while you stay awake and able to respond. With IV sedation you will be deeply relaxed and may not remember the procedure. The IV sedation team will explain what to expect.

Do I need Missouri Medicaid to get sedation?

No. Sedation is available to every patient. Call with your insurance information and the team will check IV sedation eligibility and build a plan. KC Endodontics also accepts Missouri Medicaid for sedation cases, even though our office is in Kansas.

Does KC Endodontics accept Missouri Medicaid for sedation dentistry?

Yes. Our Prairie Village, Kansas office accepts Missouri Medicaid for sedation cases. Eligibility, benefits, clinical requirements and any authorization needs vary by patient and plan, so the team will verify coverage and discuss expected costs before treatment.
